infants
PAL-A-ROOS offers a
program for infants beginning at six weeks of age. The infant rooms are divided into
separate classes, based on the childs developmental level, so non-mobile and mobile
infants may safely interact with other children of similar development. Based on the Addison-Wesley
Active Learning Series program, the infant curriculum is totally child/caregiver
interactive. As their development permits, caregivers offer infants various age and
developmentally appropriate activities. A monthly lesson plan is posted in the classroom
detailing the developmental activities for each child
.
The infant classrooms are colorful, cheerful rooms. Brightly decorated, they contain inviting toys that are both safe and appropriate to this age level. A specific crib is assigned to each child, offering a sense of continuity and familiarity.
Infants have access to a separate sheltered play area
outside, and go outdoors as weather permits. To keep our fully carpeted infant
classrooms clean and free from debris of any kind, we require all adults to remove their
shoes before entering. All baby food is prepared in a sanitized
kitchenette area, located in the classroom.
