PAL-A-ROO’S continues our structured pre-school environment employing the
highly acclaimed The Letter
People Kindergarten program in this class.
The program builds upon The Letter
People Preschool program utilized in the three-year-old classroom.
The Letter People Kindergarten
program provides a comprehensive language experience that develops reading,
handwriting, auditory and oral-language skills by providing a thorough
understanding of the letters of the alphabet and their sounds.
The child develops the skills necessary to learn to read through the use
of visual, auditory and manipulative activities that also help the child acquire
fine and gross motor skills, listening, reasoning and creative thinking.
The strong phonics-based approach is integrated into the daily activity
plan.
The Letter People Kindergarten program
is a true Kindergarten curriculum used in many advanced private
elementary schools.
PAL-A-ROO’S
chose this curriculum for our four/young five year old classroom because we are
committed to providing an environment and curriculum that will ensure your child
has been exposed to nearly every concept at PAL-A-ROO’S that they are likely
to encounter in Kindergarten.
Thus, we take pride in the knowledge that the graduates of the
PAL-A-ROO’S program are more prepared and advanced than many of their peers
when they reach Kindergarten.
PAL-A-ROO’S supplements the above programs with the Addison-Wesley Mathematics Their Way program in the Fours/Young Fives class. Mathematics Their Way is the most popular activity centered math curriculum in use today. Children encounter math through experience with familiar materials using a hands-on approach. These materials include unifix cubes, counters, pattern blocks, etc.
PAL-A-ROO'S is pleased to offer a computer center, which is available during individual learning time. Each child is encouraged to explore and experiment using the age appropriate software.
PAL-A-ROOS features an annual
formal cap and gown ceremony for our
graduating preschoolers.
This is truly a heartwarming event to experience.
Although the class utilizes structured learning programs, the children are active, not passive participants. Children have fun learning at PAL-A-ROOS, where their day is filled with interesting programs, hands-on activities and, of course, ample time for free choice activities. At PAL-A-ROOS we know that children, while naturally inquisitive and eager to achieve, sometimes just want to play.
